- I am actively interested in the preservation of our local history and restoration of waterways and associated structures that have been cast aside without forethought by so-called"development".One instance is the filling in of our SOUTH end of the LANCASTER CANAL that obviously was always going to be better running in to the town(now CITY)centre.In 1964 despite much opposition the then government demolished an aqueduct and drained and infilled the last essential 3/4 mile of our Canal never foreseeing the tourist/transport and leisure advantages as reasons to keep it open or even loose fill it and plant it perhaps...Like minded readers please join with me in the battle to restore our heritage!
